Park Design
Located within Chesterfield Central Park near the south entrance of the Chesterfield Amphitheater, the Veterans Honor Park is dedicated to honor Veterans of the United States Armed Forces, past, present, and future.
The design vision of the park was created by the architectural firm Powers Bowersox Associates, showcasing a calm and peaceful gathering place that is inviting, uplifting, educational, engaging and inspirational. The park accommodates visitors during regular park hours, providing opportunities for individuals, families, or groups to gather for both educational discovery and contemplative retrospection.
A grove of flowering trees define the Veterans Honor Park and provide seasonal interest throughout the year. A central monument fountain in the form of a five-pointed black granite star raised above a circular granite plinth resides within the tree grove. Flags of each of the service branches are displayed along with the POW/MIA flag and the flag of the United States. Stone benches are placed within the tree grove in concentric arcs that emanate outward from the central monument. Inscriptions and links to websites throughout the park will provide a way for visitors of all ages make a deeper connection with Veterans and the impact their service has on our community, our country, and the world.
